The Future Stars Program is excited to bring back Drama Classes for Students K-12 starting the week of September 18 running for 6 week sessions. We will be offering the following classes:
Drama K-2nd Grade: Thursdays – 4:15 – 4:45 – 6 Week Session – $120
Students will explore the ways in which actors use movement, body language, and verbal communication within unique contexts to convey particular characters’ perspectives and relationships with other characters. Students will explore improvisational games which develop confidence, imagination, quick thought responses and strong choices. This class will be high energy and physically active.
Drama 3rd-5th Grade: Thursdays – 4:45 – 5:30 – 6 Week Session – $140
Students will explore the different elements of acting through improvisational games, which increases confidence in quick thinking skills, stage presence, listening abilities, eye contact, and physical and vocal exploration within a character choice(s). We will discuss the process of an audition and the many elements of live theater. Students will also work on performing different styles of age appropriate monologues.
Drama 6th-8th Grade: Wednesdays – 4:15 – 5:15 – 6 Week Session – $160
This is a performance-based class where students will build on basic acting skills. Students will have the opportunity for participation in a variety of drama activities, such as: monologues, character analysis, improvisation, and short scene work. We will discuss the process of an audition and students will memorize and perform two contrasting styles of monologues.
Drama 9th-12th Grade: Wednesday- 5:15 – 6:30 – 6 Week Session – $180
This is a performance-based class where students will build on their acting skills, develop empathy and a deeper understanding of their emotions through performance and with each other. A variety of improvisational games will be utilized to maximize development in quick thinking skills, confidence, stage presence, listening skills, situational awareness and making strong choices. Students will analyze scene work and take turns directing each other as well as monologue work in contrasting styles and learning how to make the best choices while performing, whether scripted or improvisational. We will discuss the process of an audition and students will memorize and perform two contrasting styles of monologues.
