This musical production illustrates the life of our 16th President, Abraham Lincoln. The students first meet Honest Abe as an adventurous youth. We then follow him as he courts and marries Mary Todd, becomes a father, a politician, and finally a President known for quiet strength and true leadership during the difficult times surrounding the Civil War. Landmark historical moments including the Lincoln-Douglas debates, Lincoln’s speech to the Citizens of Illinois as he departed for the White House, the creation of the Emancipation Proclamation, and the Gettysburg Address are all brought to life onstage. This original musical, filled with song, dance and lively staging underscores the significance of a simple man who was led to action by his conscience. With humor, accuracy and delicacy, “Honest Abe!” is the factual tale of the life and passage of a great American President.
