The Little Theatre On The Square in Sullivan, Illinois announces tickets are now on sale for its 2013 Spring production of Les Miserables. This production, sponsored by MidState Tank in Sullivan, runs February 22 – March 3, 2013.
Les Miserables author Victor Hugo assured us more than 150 years ago: “To love another person is to see the face of God.” Les Miserables, the musical based on Hugo’s novel, opened on Broadway in 1986 and continues to tells its tale of love, grace, mercy, and redemption.
Winner of eight Tony awards, including best musical and best original score, Les Miserables is one of the longest-running musicals in Broadway history. It is the story of Jean Valjean, who after serving 19 years in jail breaks parole to begin a new life. He is relentlessly tracked by police inspector Javert. Along the way, Valjean and a variety of characters are swept up in a revolution in France, where a group of young idealists make their last stand at a street barricade.
New York director Kelly Shook returns to the Little Theatre for Les Miserables and is excited to begin work with her talented cast of twenty-nine actors from New York, Chicago and Central Illinois. Therese Kincade of Charleston is featured as Madame Thenardier, Oliver Adamson of Mowequa as Gavroche, Piper Countryman of Mattoon as young Cosette, and Anna Zaccari of Effingham as young Eponine.
Last seen in TLOTLS Christmas Show: Home for the Holidays, Sean Zimmerman will return as Javert, Karla Shook as Fantine, Ruthie Stevens as Eponine, and Tim Quartier as Marius. New to the Little Theatre is David Foley, Jr. as Jean Valjean. An onstage fifteen piece orchestra will be conducted by Artistic and Musical director Joshua Zecher-Ross.
